People are crazy. I just wanted to get that out there. I’m sure you’ve probably heard about the bombing that happened earlier today during the Boston Marathon. Boston was one of the places that I had wanted to visit last year but never had the opportunity too. While Boston hasn’t disappeared off my list of potentials, I think that during my upcoming vacation in May, I’ll take a trip up to D.C.
Which brings me to the movie ‘Olympus Has Fallen’.
“Disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning finds himself trapped inside the White House in the wake of a terrorist attack; using his inside knowledge, Banning works with national security to rescue the President from his kidnappers.” — IMDB
I didn’t mean to see ‘Olympus Has Fallen’. Yeah, the previews looked pretty awesome but I’m not that big of a fan of action films. Nonetheless, I went and saw ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ this past Friday because there was absolutely nothing else to do around here. To sum this movie up, it’s basically Gerard Butler porn – suit porn, face porn, voice porn, fighting porn – it was all there. I do happen to enjoy Gerard Butler’s films (I really liked ‘Gamer’). He manages to pull off any role with ease and that is shown in ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ for sure. His one-liners were priceless.
I was thrilled to see Dylan McDermott in this movie, as well as Aaron Eckhart. While their roles weren’t that impressive, they were an adequate accompaniment to the lead role.
The visual effects in this movie were impressive, but even more impressive was the amount of action scenes that took place within dim, cramped rooms that still managed to be amazing. Though seeing parts of D.C. in ruins does sort of make me think of staying home during my vacation, right smack in the middle of nowhere.
All in all, this movie is a definite “buy” for me. Yes – this is a movie that’s been done time and time again, but when you have the right actors, it can still come off as fresh and enjoyable. I mean, in how many other films can you see the President of the United States take a punch to the face while boxing with a member of his security team?
