Weekly Garden and Harvest Update 4/13-4/21

Not much to report this week. I took a lot of crummy cell phone pictures this week, so I thought I would just post them and let the captions do the talking. The weather was rainy and chilly all weekend, which put a damper on a lot of plans for many people.

Temperatures dipped into the low 40's last week, so mom and I took precautions and covered some of the more delicate items in the garden.

I did finally get outside in the garden today. Everything looked really well, including the leeks. I had been worried about those the past week because I’m pretty sure that my cat used the frost blankets as forts – some of the leeks looked flattened. We were able to finally get the kohlrabi in the ground today. It look us a while to decide where to plant it because it wasn’t compatible with anything in the garden.

Harvested this week:
– 12 more stalks of asparagus, but I ended up having to throw some away as they started to go bad in the fridge. So I probably harvested about 2 pounds so far this year.
